Centuries ago most people learned through apprenticeships or on-the-job training programs.  As time went by fewer apprenticeship opportunities were available because new  occupations were being created very quickly.  There was an explosion of new occupations and new careers, which was good for all the young people entering the workforce, ready to learn exciting new careers.

Today, there are many ways to obtain career or occupational training.  Many people go through elementary school, middle school, high school, then college for their training.  Others go from high school to technical training.  Some still find opportunities for apprenticeships or on-the-job training programs.  Here are some websites with information about non-traditional means for career training.
